Heart will perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Friday, November 2nd, with special guest Shawn Colvin.
Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the ‘70’s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” and so many more. Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments too, making them the first women in rock to do so. Heart continued topping the charts through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s with huge hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as musicians and singers. Heart has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. Shawn Colvin is one of the leading lights of the so-called new folk movement that began in the late 80s. Although she grew out of the somewhat limited “woman with a guitar” school, she kept the form fresh with a diverse approach, avoiding the genre’s clichéd sentiments and all too often formulaic arrangements in favor of a more personal, pop-influenced style. Colvin’s debut record won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1991, but it was her 1997 single “Sunny Came Home” that firmly catapulted her into the mainstream.
